چکیده
A fundamental issue when evaluating the simulation of precipitation is difficulty quantifying specific sources errors and recognizing compensation errors. We assess how well a large ensemble high-resolution simulations represents associated with strong cyclones. propose framework to breakdown according different dynamical (vertical velocity) thermodynamical (vertically integrated water vapor) regimes frequency intensity precipitation. This approach approximates error in total each regime as sum three terms describing large-scale environmental conditions, its intensity. show that produce too often, weak, are larger for weak than forcing biases vertically vapor can be large. Using presented above, we define four new metrics differing on degree which they include convection-permitting consistently improve compared coarser-resolution using parameterized convection, these improvements revealed by our but not traditional affected compensating These results suggest models more likely better right reasons. conclude novel decomposition this study give useful provides physical insights about reliable quantification

Estimating precipitation errors using spaceborne surface soil moisture retrievals
[1] Limitations in the availability of ground-based rain gauge data currently hamper our ability to quantify errors in global precipitation products over data-poor areas of the world. Over land, these limitations may be eased by approaches based on interpreting the degree of dynamic consistency existing between precipitation estimates and remotely-sensed surface soil moisture retrievals. This p...
متن کاملEvaluating optimized digital elevation precipitation model using IDW method (Case study: Jam & Riz Watershed of Assaloyeh, Iran)
A watershed management program is usually based on the results of watershed modeling. Accurate modeling results are decided by the appropriate parameters and input data. Precipitation is the most important input for watershed modeling. Precipitation characteristics usually exhibit significant spatial variation, even within small watersheds. Therefore, properly describing the spatial variation o...
متن کاملThe Effects of Newmark Method Parameters on Errors in Dynamic Extended Finite Element Method Using Response Surface Method
The Newmark method is an effective method for numerical time integration in dynamic problems. The results of Newmark method are function of its parameters (β, γ and ∆t). In this paper, a stationary mode I dynamic crack problem is coded in extended finite element method )XFEM( framework in Matlab software and results are verified with analytical solution. This paper focuses on effects of main pa...
